The Beerenberg COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM

The South Australian village of Hahndorf has been our family’s home for nearly 200 years and we believe this special place deserves protecting and cherishing. That’s why we established the Beerenberg Community Grants Program - to conserve and celebrate Hahndorf’s cultural, built and natural heritage.

Launched in 2010, the Beerenberg Community Grants Program gives us the opportunity to focus our philanthropic activities and give back to the place we’re proud to call home.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Here is just a small selection of the projects funded and supported by our grants program over the years.

St Nicholas Come to Hahndorf - Classic Concert

Beerenberg provided support to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church of Hahndorf for the performance of the cantata "St Nicholas" by British composer, Benjamin Britten.

Heysen Sculpture Biennial Exhibition

We have been a supporter of the Heysen Sculpture Biennial Exhibition (HSB) for many years and continues to support the annual event.

Heritage Walkway Signs

The signs, co-funded by the Beerenberg Community Grants Program, provide a cultural appreciation and historical perspective about the life of the early pioneers who settled the township of Hahndorf.

Revegetation of the Hahndorf District

We provided funding to assist the local Landcare group, Trees Please! Inc. to collect seed from local native trees and shrubs, raise seedlings and plant them in the Hahndorf area.

Hahndorf Archives

Our program established the personal archives of the legendary Reg Butler O.A.M, a celebrated South Australian historian whose legacy we are now proud guardians of. A local luminary, Reg's passion for the intricate stories of our town's past shines through his extensive collection of books, maps, diaries, and more, which are now housed on our family farm here in Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills.

Hahndorf Heritage Building Signs

We provided funding to the Hahndorf Community Association Inc. to create and install heritage signs on State Heritage buildings along Hahndorf Main Street. Each sign conveys the history of each building.

2012 Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium

This inaugural symposium saw eight internationally acclaimed sculptors work over 20 days at The Cedars in Hahndorf to create eight totally unique stone sculptures, now permanently in situ in the village.

From Footprint to Footplate

Ink Pot Arts, with the support of the District Council of Mount Barker and sponsors, presented From Footprint to Footplate, an in-school performance acknowledging and celebrating the history of the Adelaide Hills region.

Nixons' Mill

The Hahndorf Community Association initiated a project with the Mount Barker District to preserve and restore the historic Nixon's Mill to its former glory.
